Laser cutting is one of the most demanding production processes for the manufacture of seals and Technical Parts. Here at SCHLÖSSER, we are extremely familiar with this process: We are able to provide our customers, across a vast number of sectors and right around the world, with precision-fit and highly efficient solutions, for sample components, prototypes or pre-production parts.
Laser beam cutting (also called laser cutting) designates the full-depth cutting of materials using a beam of laser light: The high-energy radiation generated is absorbed by the material (this is known as ablation) and results in a cut and/or full separation.
The principal components involved in laser cutting are as follows: The laser beam source and the machining (focusing lens) with cutter nozzle. Here at SCHLÖSSER, we work with what is known as a CO₂ laser.
As with waterjet cutting, no tool is required for laser cutting. This means that the shapes of seals and Technical Parts can be modified quickly and flexibly. This makes laser cutting an ideal process for the fast and low-cost production of small volumes. Laser cutting can also be a very appropriate process for the production of samples, prototypes or pre-production parts.
